It's a new year, and I am embracing a new challenge...Blog Posts...
I want to be able share with you a little more about my patterns as I design them and add in some tips and tricks. I would like to be able to share small things I've found to be helpful that just don't flow in the technical writing of a pattern. Or just those overall tips and methods I've learned in over five years of bag making.
But this first entry is just a little welcome post to tell you a little about me and Cork and Thread.
So, hi, I'm Molly, owner, designer, and all other things behind the scenes. I began Cork and Thread at the end of 2019. I started out sewing and selling ready-made bags and wallets. As my skills and confidence increased, I started writing my own patterns. In 2021, I released my first pattern, the Laurel Crossbody Wallet. I now have more than 20 patterns. Designing patterns has become the focus for me as it combines both my creative and analytical sides. Many of my patterns are designed to use cork leather, as it's my signature fabric, though any non-fray fabric can be used.
Last year I ventured into designing quilt patterns and released the patterns Woven Triangles Quilt and Window of Stars Quilt. Quilting is a skill I plan to continue to grow and incorporate into my bag making as well as more quilt patterns. In fact, my first bag pattern of 2025, the Chelsea Crescent Bag, has quilting detail as one of the main features of the exterior.
Along with patterns, I also sell kits for some of my smaller wallet and coaster designs. I also offer custom engraving on a number of products.
I hope you will continue to join me and please let me know what you might like to see as a future post!
